What we collect

When you submit a premium report, we store your selected state, renewal month, previous annual premium, new annual premium, calculated change, and a one-way protected removal credential.

When you submit a nonrenewal, coverage restriction, or deductible increase report, we store the selected state, renewal month, issue type, and a one-way protected removal credential. These issue reports are kept separate from premium medians.

When you sign up for a state alert, we store your email address, selected state, alert type, consent version, source, and signup time so we can send RateReceipt state tracker updates. State alert signups are separate from anonymous premium and issue reports.

When you submit an anonymous story wall card, we store only controlled fields: selected state, notice type, increase range, renewal month, next-step category, and signup time. We do not provide a free-text box for public stories.

We also use a browser-specific random identifier to prevent accidental duplicate reports. It is not used to advertise to you or identify you by name.

To measure whether the product works, we store daily aggregate counts for a limited set of interactions, such as sample previews, completed contributions, card downloads, shares, removals, and openings of labeled paid quote links. These counters are not stored with your browser identifier or report.

What we do not ask for

• Name, phone number, or account registration for anonymous reports.
• Street address, ZIP code, policy number, insurer name, or mortgage details.
• Policy documents, payment information, or identity documents.
• Free-text public story details that could expose a person, insurer dispute, address, or claim.

How reports are used

RateReceipt uses self-reported values to calculate aggregate changes in supported states. Individual premium totals are not displayed in public state summaries. State aggregates are withheld until at least 10 qualifying submissions exist. Issue reports use the same threshold before public state breakdowns are shown.

State alert emails are used only for RateReceipt tracker updates. We do not sell state alert email addresses or use them to change public tracker results.

Anonymous story wall cards are shown publicly as controlled summaries. They are meant to help homeowners see broad patterns, not to verify or publish individual disputes.

Removal and control

After submitting, you receive a removal code. Keep it safely: because we do not collect your identity or email, the code is the only reliable way to match and remove your anonymous contribution.

On the same browser, the code is saved locally for convenience and can be used through the "Remove my report" control.

Security and retention

The public deployment is designed for encrypted HTTPS transport, bot verification, duplicate protection, restricted moderator access, and aggregated publication thresholds. Anonymous submissions are retained while they support the tracker or until removed using the removal code or removed for abuse prevention. State alert email signups are retained while alerts are useful or until removal is requested.
